Riviera Bermudagrass Seeding Window is Closing

As many have seen across the transition zone, winterkill greatly affected bermudagrass this spring/summer.  With the lack of sprigs and sod available, many are considering seeding Riviera bermudagrass. With that said, in the upper transition zone, the seeding window is beginning to close and will be closed on July 1.  Why?  Consider reviewing this document from the University of Arkansas and this publication from Purdue University.

  1. Jamie - I'm in Nashville, TN area and we are going to sow some Riviera on our soccer field this week - we lost a lot of 419 (prob 10K sq ft) - we didn't find out about Riviera until a week ago as an option - we are topdressing before we sow it - any tips or idea's on this??

  2. John - Keep the soil moist - not standing water, but almost that wet. Also, it will take 14 days to germinate, so be patient. Other than that, push it with 21.0.0. Good luck!

  3. We actually had some germinate at 9 days - went by today which is day 13 and you could see a whole lot more up - hoping we can get coverage by Aug 21
